Dear Felton Library Friend —

You may have read that the County Office of Education has decided not to partner with the library for a joint-use facility on the Verutti property next to the Felton Post Office. The Sentinel story can be found at:

While all parties were hopeful that the COE decision would be to go forward, Felton Library Friends is glad that the long period of waiting for a COE decision is over. We, the Joint Powers Board, and the Library Director are now free to explore every option available to bring about the long-needed new Felton branch. In fact, at the board meeting on Monday night, Mark Stone clarified that the COE is still exploring whether some sort of cooperative project with the library might still be possible on that property, just not the one originally envisioned. The Board has assigned the topic of the Felton branch to a task force consisting of Board member Nancy Gerdt, a member of the Library administration, myself, and others yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, FLF has been very busy formulating a vision of what the new branch library should be. Publicity in the Valley Post, Valley Press, and the Sentinel will invite all interested people to our next steering committee meeting to discuss and improve our vision statement. We especially invite you and others who have supported FLF’s efforts for the past seventeen months to join us.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 4 p.m., at the Felton Firehouse.
