For twenty-five years, Shelly worked in content development for high tech companies. Now, instead of being a techie, she writes novels about the high tech world. And Shelly volunteers with Felton Library Friends.

“My husband, John, and I moved to Felton looking for a place that was like the small communities we grew up in,” Shelly said. “We’ve always wanted to live in the Santa Cruz Mountains and with my change in career, it seemed like the right time. We love it here and can’t imagine living anywhere else. The sense of community is so strong in the San Lorenzo Valley. We immediately felt right at home.”

As new Felton residents, Shelly and John went looking for an opportunity to connect with their new community. “The library was the first thing I thought of. I’ve been passionate about libraries all my life. They are the heart of a community. I was thrilled to hear the Felton Library Friends’ goals of building a new, modern library in Felton to serve the San Lorenzo Valley.”

As a volunteer, Shelly helped to create the website for Felton Library Friends for the Measure S campaign and managed the group’s social media. Now she’ll be focusing on articles and videos for this new generation of the website. “It’s really important to communicate what is happening with the new library. People are excited and want a window into all the great progress that’s happening. I’ll be working with other volunteers to communicate that progress to our community.”
