- Thanks to all who supported our very successful Ice Cream Social on September 15. Nearly 400 people visited the site of the future Felton library, enjoyed refreshments and entertainment, and learned more about FLF's efforts to further the planning and funding of the new library so sorely need by the San Lorenzo Valley. Supervisor Mark Stone, Library Director Anne Turner, and members of both the Library Joint Powers Board and the Board of the Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries all joined FLF in honoring the Grace, Mike and Pat Verutti , and their families, for their generous offer of land for the library. For a slide show of the event, visit our website at www.feltonlibraryfriends.org.
- Please join us in a benefit concert for FLF on Thursday, October 18 at Don Quixotes in Felton. Two very talented musical groups have volunteered to make their coming concert a benefit for FLF. We are very grateful for this offer, and hope that it may set a precedent for other groups to support our cause. The music on their websites will make you want to hear more -- Cooper Street (www.cooperstreetmusic.com), an alt-Americana Santa Cruz rock band, and singer/songwriter Michael Gaither (www.michaelgaither.com). The concert starts at 7:30; for ticket information go to Don Quixotes International Music Hall.
- With this email we welcome many new members of our growing email list. We do not share our list with other groups and we strive to use our emails sparingly, to inform you of events, meetings, and progress in our work towards a new Felton branch. If you no longer wish to receive them, just email your request to this address. You will also find the latest announcements, minutes of meetings, and background information at our website.
for FLF
"The free library is a living room to an ordinary citizen, a treasury to a researcher, and a chamber of horrors to a dictator."
